Can I use a dehumidifier instead?
A dehumidifier sucks the air into the machine to pull the water out of the air. This does not solve the problem because it creates a space that is constantly humid. This is because the dehumidifier pulls the moisture from the surrounding earth into the basement space through the walls. That’s why your dehumidifier runs all the time.
Can I just repair my mortar?
Because the walls are still wet and salty anytime there is renovation work done, there is always discoloration with deposits of salt that continually crumble the mortar, plaster, brick, and masonry. This is because the rising moisture flow has not been stopped. The RENODRY technology stops this rising damp, which is the root of the issue. Now the walls are able to dry out and any renovation work will last.
Can I just use water locking or water proof paint?
Plasters or paints that are commonly used for water locking or water proofing purposes are not breathable. This traps the water in the walls with nowhere to escape, so the water rises higher and higher due to the capillary effect. This naturally leads to peeling and bubbling of the paint or plaster, causing the water to climb higher in the wall.
How long does it take to work?
This depends on several factors; the degree and saturation of salts present, the thickness of the wall, the height the moisture has climbed the wall, and a how well ventilated the area is that needs to be dried out. Typically there is a dramatic change in 3-6 months with a complete dry out usually occurring within 18 months.
Is there maintenance involved?
No, this is a non-invasive environmentally friendly product. There is no recurring maintenance or energy cost associated with the RENODRY system.
What is salt efflorescence?
Efflorescence are the salt deposits left over from the presence of rising moisture. The salts crystallize, expand, and erode building materials over time and is the major factor in damage from rising ground moisture. The RENODRY system dehydrates the foundation to rid the structure of the destructive salts. Once the structure is dried out, then any repairs can be completed.
Different Terms describing rising damp?
Rising Moisture, Rising Capillary Moisture, Capillary Rise, Capillary Action, Rising Ground Moisture
Do you only dry out old homes/buildings?
No, we dry out all homes and buildings that are suffering from rising damp. Rising damp becomes more common the older the home gets, but the RENODRY system can be used as a preventative measure as well and commonly is.
Will the RENODRY system reverse the damage?
No, the RENODRY system does not reverse the damage that has been done. The RENODRY system will stop any further damage permanently, from progressing, and allow for walls to be repaired as necessary without the fear of continuing damage in the future from rising ground moisture.
How does the RENODRY system work?
Masonry, Stone and Concrete are like a magnet to water and are attracted to each other. We reverse the polarity of the magnets so they repel each other. RENODRY changes ambient energy to influence the water molecules causing them to release from the foundation. The water molecules either evaporate into the air of the basement, or gravity pulls the water and dissolved salts back down and out of the walls. As long as the system remains in place in the building, rising damp will not come back. The walls will dry out, and the deterioration will be halted.
Do you stop flowing water in my basement?
The RENODRY system does not stop flowing water or prevent leaky basements. It was designed to stop rising ground moisture which is different from flowing water that occurs from rainfall or rising water tables.
Does It actually work?
Yes! It works in every building and home that has rising ground moisture. Every time!
