Grant County Historical Museum

Grant County Historical Museum in Milbank, South Dakota was built in 1906 as a Carnegie Library and is now operated by the Grant County Historical Society.

The museum’s curator had heard about the great success of drying out the Grant County Courthouse and asked RENODRY to come inspect the only L-shaped Carnegie Library built in South Dakota. There were 25 Dale Carnegie Libraries built in the state. The foundation was crumbling, and worse, the moisture levels from the wet foundation was negatively affecting the museum’s precious artifacts with dampness and musty smells pervading the space. Well into its dehydration stage, the building is drying out allowing the moisture to escape and never return.
