Considered by many to be the finest example of Sioux quartzite architecture in the region, the courthouse was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 along with the entire Historic Downtown District. What was not known was the fact that over the years, moisture and salts would climb the foundation walls and slowly destroy the nearly indestructible pink quartzite. After trying everything to cover up the ever-wet walls, they happened to come across the wall drying solution that would solve their preservation problems. Once they had their own RENODRY system installed in the courthouse, they watched in amazement as all the excess moisture was permanently removed and a dry, comfortable environment was the new normal.
